THE ADVENTURES OF A SENIOR MISSIONARY COUPLE IN ALASKA

This page is to update our activities for our children and grandchildren while we are in Alaska. If you happen onto this page and you don't fall in into the above category -- go ahead and snoop. You might even want to check out Mormon.Org and lds.org to find out what we are doing in Alaska.

TRIP TO GIRDWOOD

I should have posted these pictures weeks ago. Several Saturdays ago, we took a quick drive down the Old Seward Highway on the Turnagain Inlet. It was a bit cloudy and windy, but otherwise, it was good traveling weather.

The first thing we ran into was a Russian Orthodox Church that was quite attractive, so I had to stop and take a couple of pictures

I have no idea who Saint Tikhon was but he must have
been a Russian. At least, the writing underneath his name
appears to be Russian.
Die Kirche --
A what? -- Gazebo?

FURTHER DOWN THE ROAD
The next thing we encountered was a state park with
a snow removal apparatus on the front of a train engine.
This shot doesn't exactly give you an idea of the size of the
snow eater.
Neither does this shot.
But, this shot does help. Sister Campbell is 5' 7".
And, I'm 6' 4".
Looking down the "Beast."
The snow blower from the side.
Interesting sign to read.
Another sign.
Don't worry. Not everybody reading a sign is wicked.
Another view.
Picture of the tracks looking Southeast.

MORE OF THE SIGHTS DOWN THE ROAD
Mountains and snow on the other side of Turnagain
Inlet.
Wind swept hair
The byway is duly noted as being officially beautiful.
Pretty, eh? If you enlarge this picture, you might
see a waterfall.
Love those low hanging clouds.
Reminds me of Austria.
Pretty...
more of the same
Sister Campbell looking across the water--
close up.
Elder Campbell spoiling the view.
But, proof that I was there.

Looking for Beluga whales.
A "cutesy" little poem.
Peek a boo!
More sights
A compass in the concrete.
Yah --
sigh
More greenery.
